read any good books lately? i have. i've always wanted to try and keep track of all the stuff i've read, but i never seem to do so. i'm hoping that if i make the list public, i'll be more prone to keep it updated. the ratings are out of a possible 5. a strikethough means i finished the book.

First off. A few of my favoriter writers, in no particular order, and for all sorts of reasons. William Faulkner, Roddy Doyle, Nick Hornby, Cormac McCarthy, David Foster Wallace, Joseph Conrad, David Antrium, Tim O' Brien, Tom Wolfe, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Kurt Vonnegut, Michael Chabon, David Brooks, Bob Schacochis, PJ O Rourke (pre-90s), Bill Bryson, Nelson Algren, Neal Pollock, and Mat Honan.

2002 Reading List

A Light In August, William Faulkner -
The Elementary Particles, Michel Houellebecq -
(One of those books where I found myself underlingin all sorts of passages. Thought-provoking.)
Celebration, Harry Crews
(This is the second Crews book I've read. They kind of remind me of watching Nascar. Starts slow, builds to a furious crescendo, and then is suddenly over and you have no idea if you're happy with how it ended or not.)
The Tesseract, Alex Garland
(Great read, incredibly entertaining, and Garland does some interesting stuff with narrative technique.)

Money : A Suicide Note, Martin Amis
(I probably won't finish this one, just like I didn't finish the last Amis book I read. I like Amis' style, for short periods. But it gets to be too much after a few chapters. Too often his words obscure the story for me.)
Miss Wyoming, Douglas Coupland
(A great read, but not particularly thought-provoking.)

In the Lake of the Woods, Tim O'Brien
