Mat and I now BOTH are full of snot and woke up with throats that felt as though we had swallowed razor blades at some point through the night. First it was just me. Now I have given it to him because I am so generous.
The only thing to do is make banana pancakes and lay in the yard and sneeze and cough and snort in the sun! That's the only answer...
In the spring, it is a very common thing to get this sort of illness. According to ayurvedic medicine toxins accumulated throughout the body through the winter are "melted" in a sense by the warmer temperatures of spring and released into the circulating body fluids. That is why you get sick in the spring and why it is the best time to cleanse!
Anyway, for today, I think that I will do better for myself by babying my body. Laying in the grass and doing whatever stretching, reading, writing, sleeping, drinking water water water that I need. Banana pancakes first though!!

After reading Rob's juice fast tales I find myself wanting to cleanse. It is a seasonal change, and I want to get rid of all of the winter toxins (probably the most toxic of the seasons as it involves holiday food, brandy to keep warm of course, lots of being inside and dry skin). I have a different plan, though.
The detox that I want to do is a week long, and you can actually eat solid foods. The foods are just very particular, and you eat certain things at certain times of day, and they are all whole foods, living and unprocessed. It also incorporates massage, either from a partner or from yourself, and it has little cards that show you how to do the massage. Massage helps to wring the toxins further out of your organs. AND it uses essential oils, certain ones for each day that you use in your massage oil or in your bathtub...
Anyway, I talked to mat about doing this, and he said that he wanted to be out of town for it. Now, what does that mean? I guess that he is pointing out that I am a definite creature of comfort and indulgences of the senses is one of the things that i love best. There is nothing better than my cereal in the morning, a big slowly prepared dinner, ice cream at night... I think that he is afraid that I will be cranky without these things. All the more reason to detox!! I believe in appreciating good food and everything, but i would never want to be dependent on it.
I don't know... Rob is inspiring. I feel called to detox. I am going to start mapping out a good week to do it. and no one call me that week because I may be a little whiney at best...

I broke down and got some cool shades like Mat has... these Smith Sliders. I LOVE them!! I have all different kinds of lenses for all of the different weather conditions. This morning, I sped to work with bright yellow vision! They make things so clear and defined, and yellow definitely made me happy this morning. I am going to order some pink lenses and see the world through rose-colored glasses.
I am not usually a gear person. Well, that's not really true. Whenever I go anywhere I do carry a lot of stuff with me, but I wouldn't necessarily call it gear. It is usually lip balm, herbs, vitamins, flower essences, always a book and a magazine, a journal... I do not travel light much to my and mat's chagrin. I am determined to get better about that before we go to Thailand. Why my attachment to all of my little trinketty things?
