I'll Take Tuesday
I've been completely freaking out lately due to my perilous financial situation. Things are, quite frankly, rough. Currently, I've got rent, and that's about it. Although Harp's got money, I don't want to live off of her. I'm determined not to mooch. Yet to say that I'm close to the edge would be understating things. I'm waiting on checks, I'm trying to sell stories, but I'm floundering right now. Such is the life of a freelancer, though. And it's a life I chose. The thing is, sometimes I forget why I chose it.
And then there are days like today.
Harp and I drove up to Point Reyes to go whale watching. We didn't see any whales, but we did see several Tule Elk, all sorts of seabirds, numerous redwing blackbirds, hawks, a falcoln, and family farms. The beach was so deserted it felt surreal. Like a hallucination. A movie set. It's hard to comprehend something that something so beautiful, so isolated, and so spiritual is so close to San Francisco. But there it was. And it (along with encouraging words from Harper) re-energized me. I'm still broke, I'm still desperate. But I remember why now. When it comes down to money, or going to the beach on Tuesday, I'll take Tuesday.
