Christmas!!! I love it sooooo much. Grace Cathedral has an amazing website, and they have all kinds of stuff up for Christmas. Advent readings, Christmas music that you can listen to, the story of the actual St. Nicholas, a schedule of their many services and musical events... it is so inspiring!!!

We watched Charlie Brown Christmas thursday night. I don't think that it really feels like Christmas until one hears Linus tell the Christmas story on the little stage and hear the music while the kids dance... you know that song.

Lights are up all over the place, making everywhere look warm and inviting. I love the feeling in the air when it is Christmas (minus the advertising and commercialization of course). For me, it's celebratory music, reflections on the meaning of the holiday, family gathering around, candles, lights, good food... warmth in the cold. My parents and my brother and my mother-in-law are all coming out here to be with us, and I can't wait to get a tree and hang the stockings and smell the pine needles and cook food for them!!!

Happy Christmas!!

I haven't written in my blog in a week!

I guess that a lot has happened this week... I have been busy and only living on the surface of me. No time for yoga, very little meditation, some prayer... Weeks like this are hard on me. I need so much time for reflection.

This morning I've been controlling and grumpy. Telling Mat how to do the dishwasher, the coffeemaker... Where does this come from? I try to stop and listen to my body. What is going on with you?> I lean forward into a miserable forward bend as my back tenses instead of melts. So much tension stored in there. I suppose that you can't expose a body to the wonders that come from the lengthening, listening, and release that come from a regular yoga practice and then just take that away from it for a whole week. my body is creaky and tied in knots and therefore so is my spirit.

Today the sun is out, and we are going to Hamotam in the park. Playing my guitar in the sun outside will surely open my heart and melt away the week's worries and stress. Yoga at 4:30 and constant gentle stretching until then. That is what I need today.

Then maybe i can quit being the coffee police and grumping around like the grinch...
