Ever wonder what the next big band from Athens will be? Me too. Here's a big ol list from Flagpole. I noticed that The Glands, who opened from Modest Mouse, are from Athens. (Ones I knew of include Elf Power, Bloddkin, 5-8, Vic Chesnutt, Kevn Kinney, Guadalcanal Diary, Love Tractor, Macha, Jack Logan, Olivia Tremor Control, of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel/ Jeff Magnum, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Redneck Greese, The Star Room Boys, Squat, and the Vigilantes of Love. Oh and those REM, B-52 and Widespread Panic bands, I've heard of them too.) There have got to be some real hidden gems among the pages of bands listed. Beat the rush.
